Dale County Tornado Damage
December 16, 2000
On December 16, 2000,
a strong F2 size tornado system struck first in Geneva, Alabama, then entered
Dale County, damaging houses and knocking down transmission power lines
in the Doe Run Road community south of Newton. Next, the tornado
continued northeast hitting the downtown area of Pinckard, Alabama, before
continuing on to do damage in Midland City, Alabama. Luckily, there
were no fatalities in Dale County. However, a young wife and mother
was fatally injured in Geneva.
