On December 16, 2000, a strong F2 size tornado system struck first in Geneva, Alabama, then entered Dale County, damaging houses and knocking down transmission power lines in the Doe Run Road community south of Newton.  Next, the tornado continued northeast hitting the downtown area of Pinckard, Alabama, before continuing on to do damage in Midland City, Alabama.  Luckily, there were no fatalities in Dale County.  However, a young wife and mother was fatally injured in Geneva.
