State of Alabama Recognizes
Dale County Amateur Radio
Emergency Service Contributions

Dale County is blessed with volunteers to operate in times of need for its citizens. One such group is prepared and work on sight during severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and floods. This group is the Dale County Amateur Radio Emergency Service. During the past year (1997-1998), the radio amateurs have accrued approximately 574 clock hours in setup, repair, maintenance, and preparation with 418 hours logged in for severe weather and other related emergencies.

With these accomplishments in making the Dale County Emergency Management Agency successful, the Dale County Amateur Radio Emergency Service was submitted for an award presented by the Alabama Emergency Management Council. Numerous volunteer efforts from across the state were submitted and were presented Certificates of Appreciation. However, as a result of their dedication and effort, the Dale County Amateur Radio Emergency Service was selected for the Top Award and presented with a plaque at the Alabama Emergency Management Council Summer Conference.
